The 2008 USA Sevens is a true destination
event - revel in the rugby, laze on the beaches or swing by one of
the region’s impressive golf courses for an unforgettable weekend
of energy and enthusiasm.
The International Rugby Board (IRB)
started the Sevens series in 1997 in order to develop an
elite-level competition series between rugby nations and develop
the Sevens game into a viable commercial product of the IRB. The
2006/07 series encompasses seven cities around the world, with the
tournament season beginning in December and running thru June. All
international teams are competing for the World Sevens Series
Championship title by accumulating points based on their respective
finishes in each of these tournaments.
More than 35 nations will compete in the 2008/09 IRB Sevens series.
