The last quarterfinal of the day featured the dominant New Zealand vs the United States. For the first 5 mins, it was all about defense with both sides struggling to move the ball forward. The USA controlled the ball slightly more than New Zealand throughout the first half.

After a critical knock-on by the USA, Portia Woodman broke out of the pack to score first for New Zealand as time expired in the first half giving New Zealand the lead 5 – 0 after a failed conversion attempt.

The second half started with another knock-on by the USA. At the 4:35 min mark, New Zealand committed a penally to give possession back to the US, which led to a kick down field ensuing in a yellow-card advantage for the US.

The US missed a key opportunity to score as Javelet couldn’t turn the corner at the 22 meter line.

An offsides by the US gave the ball back to New Zealand. Team USA had one last chance after regaining possession, but the New Zealand defense swarmed to shut down any last chance efforts by the United States.

New Zealand defeated the US 5-0 to advance to the medal rounds.
