The United States are in the victory column after posting a shut out against host nation Brazil.
The United States opened the scoring through Folau Niua with a powerful piece of running for the try early in the first half. As time was ticking down, New England Patriots star Nate Ebner got the ball in his hands and smashed his way through two tackles for a try to give the States a 14-0 lead at half.
The States did not let up in the second half. Brazil played the majority of the second half with six players after receiving two yellow cards. Substitute Carlin Isles displayed his world class pace to get the edge and find the try zone. Isles only touched the ball once, but he made it count. As the game clock expired in the second half, Maka Unufe scored a try with no time left to add another important try for the United States.
The United States finish off pool play tomorrow afternoon in what is to be a very tightly contested match with Fiji.
