After a quarter of the match ticked away, Paulin Riva of France got the scoring started with an unconverted score to take a 5–0 lead. France made it 12–0 when Jean Pascal Barraque danced through the Kenyan defense for a try between the posts. The score saw France lead with the same scoreline at halftime.
Stephen Parez’s try in the second minute of the second half put France on top 19–0. But Kenya fired back with a converted score by Vincent Onyala, spearheaded by a remarkable effort from Mike Agevi. The score gave Kenya life, but it would prove not to be enough. Kenya needed to keep France from scoring again. Instead, it was Remi Siega in for the converted try to put France ahead 26–7. Marvin O’Connor added one more French try for good measure to end the match in front 31–7.
