Carlin Isles is the Fastest Man in Rugby
The crossover athlete phenom, Carlin Isles, has taken the sports world by storm by literally blowing past the competition at the HSBC Sevens World Series, the nine city global rugby tournament featuring 16 countries including the United States.
Isles, 23, originally had dreams of competing in the Olympic Games as a track star, but his dreams quickly faded as his attempts to make the Olympic trials for the 2012 games were unsuccessful. With hopes of Olympic glory still in sight, he turned his attention to Rugby Sevens, the newest Olympic Sport set to make its debut at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
It was less than 6 months ago that rugby insiders dubbed Isles “The Fastest Man in Rugby,” and by all accounts he has lived up to this moniker. By putting on an international showcase at the South Africa Sevens last weekend and the Dubai Sevens two weekends ago, Isles has become an internet sensation overnight. Watch the YouTube video below to see what all the buzz is about.
For Isles, like many other American athletes, rugby wasn’t even on his radar. However, with the increased success of athletes like Carlin Isles, that trend seems to be changing quickly as more and more athletes are turning to rugby as a means to fulfill their Olympic dreams.
For fans looking to see Carlin’s blazing fast speed up close and personal, come to Las Vegas this February 8-10th to watch him compete at the U.S. stop of the IRB Sevens World Series.
